Lady Bisons Conclude Hawaii Tour with Close Win

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Sophomore guard Makala McNair found the bottom of the net with 10 seconds left to give the Harding women's basketball team a 79-77 win over Hawaii Pacific Monday night in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Lady Bisons improve to 11-0 on the season which is the best start since the 1997-98 season.

With 2:31 remaining McNair hit a 3-pointer to tie the game 75 all. Less than a minute later Hawaii Pacific guard Mana Hopkins broke the tie on a jumper to give the Sea Warriors a two point advantage with 1:37 remaining. The teams exchanged missed jumpers before junior forward Stacey Owens hit a layup on a pass from Kaitlin May to tie the game up 77 all. The Sea Warriors had a chance to go ahead with 22 seconds remaining but a miss jumper by Hopkins set up the McNair game-winner.

McNair hit 6-of-10 from behind the 3-point line and hit a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line to put up 30 points on the night for the Lady Bisons. Ashley Anderson had a season high 20 points for Harding hitting 9-of-16 from the field. Anderson also had eight rebounds for Harding. Both McNair and Anderson are transfers from Arkansas State.

Man Hopkins and Paris Gravely each had 19 points for the Sea Warriors.

The Lady Bisons will take two weeks off for the holidays before traveling to Florence, Ala., to face Gulf South Conference East Division foe North Alabama on Jan. 3rd at 1 p.m.
